Oath Taking Ceremonies Held For The First Batch of PAP Certified Psychologists

A total of 105 participants attended the oath taking of the first batch of certified psychologists last November 28, 2009 at the Hotel Sofitel, Manila. Clinical psychology, assessment psychology and counseling psychology had the most number of certified psychologists followed by industrial/organizational psychologists, developmental psychologists, social psychologists and educational psychologists. The oath taking was led by PAP president, Dr. J. Enrique Saplala.

Dr. Rose Marie Salazar-Clemeña, certified counseling psychologist, outstanding Philippine psychologist and former PAP president, delivered an inspiring message on the role of psychologists in the Philippines. She stressed the importance of what psychologists in the different fields can do to help improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos.

The event was also graced by the presence of former PAP presidents such as Drs. Natividad Munarriz, Natividad Dayan, Imelda Villar, Mary Lou Onglatco, Ana Miren Gonzalez-Intal and Lucy Bance. The simple ceremony was moderated by certified educational psychologist and former PAP president, Dr. Allan B.I. Bernardo.


PAP Holds Kamustahan And Forensic Psychology Meeting At CDO City

Around 150 PAP members from Visayas and Mindanao attended a kamustahan last December 1, 2009, Tuesday, 9:00-12 noon at the Grand Hotel, Velez Street (across Vienna Cafe), Cagayan De Oro City (near Xavier University, main campus) .
The kamustahan gave the members an opportunity to meet their colleagues from the VisMin area and discuss concerns related to your membership with the PAP. Dr. J. Enrique G. Saplala moderated the meeting and discussed the psychology bill, certification of psychology specialists and other important matters relevant to the VisMin sector. The meeting was followed by a Q & A on the psychology bill and the certification procedures.
In the afternoon, a brown bag session was held at the audiovisual room of Xavier University’s main campus. Research papers on forensic and criminal psychology were presented by Dr. Joey Jegonia, Prof. Carla Raagas-Barros and Dr. J. Enrique Saplala. Over a hundred participants, mainly students, faculty and psychologists from the Visayas and Mindanao attended the session. Faculty and volunteer students distributed snacks in brown bags to all participants at the end of the presentations. This event was co-organized by the PAP, Xavier University’s Guidance and Counseling Department and Psychology Department.
